Brooks running shoes started in Philadelphia in 1914 when John Brooks Goldenberg purchased the Quaker Shoe Company, which made bathing shoes and ballet slippers. By 1956, the Brooks Manufacturing Company was launched after many corporate changes. Fast-forward to 1975, Brooks introduced its first superior performance running shoe, the Villanova, created with design input from many outstanding runners, including former Olympian runner Marty Liquori. The shoe used EVA, an air-infused foam - which many sport shoe companies started using after this shoe hit the market. By 1977, Brooks launched the Vintage, a running shoe ranked #1 in “Runner’s World,” and the shoes introduced after were equally compelling. Today, based in Seattle, Washington, Brooks sneakers are available throughout the globe – including over 60 countries.
